Film Festival 2010 Teaser

It's that time again. The staffers at film festival headquarters in Arizona have been working very hard preparing for what we hope will atleast be the second best year ever. There are new games and great prizes and lots of family secrets to reveal.

In honor of election week we are kicking of the first post with a patriotic game. You might have noticed that the profile pictures have changed. Each family member is being depicted by a famous or somewhat famous American.

Can you guess them? And even better can you guess why I chose them?

I'll give you a hint. The chosen American shares a life experience or character trait with their assigned family member.

As usual here at film festival headquarters we are offering fantastic prizes to the winner. Missy has generously offered to crochet one of her famous animal head winter beanies for the event She has entitled it "The Political Platypus".

In fact all the prizes this year will be crocheted articles of clothing by Missy. She is feverishly crocheting as you are reading this, only stopping occaisonally to facebook about her progress and also about what she is cooking for dinner. There will be prizes along the way but also we will be using a highly complicated point system to keep track of everyone's scores. Once a week we will update the rankings.

Post your best guesses!

What else can you expect this year?

A new weekly special "Where in the World is Howard Rew?"

We will be following the birth of Brad and Thera's miracle baby

Janna will have a daily segment entitled "Janna Tweets"

And many other exciting things to be announced later!

So far I have almost everyone. I will list all that I have.

Mom is Harriet Tubman. Harriet Tubman house people in her basement. Mom allows drifters to stay at her house all the time.

Josh is Jonathon Edwards. He was a philosopher of Theologian. He is considered one of the greatest intellectuals and believed in gender equality. He also was a missionary to Native Americans. If that doesn't sound like a complete description of Josh I don't know what else does.

Sarah is Susan B. Anthony. Susan was a prominent American civil rights leader and and womens activist. She traveled throughout the United States and Europe to tell the world of what she believed in hopes for a change. Sarah fits this role completely in her beliefs for womens rights and the liberal that she is. :)

Jenni is Edith Wharton. Edith was a novelist and was known for her works that characterised dramatic irony. She wrote "The Age of Innocence". I am guessing that Jenni fits this role as she uses "dramatic irony" to rip on all of her family members on a blog that she writes. Thank you Jenni...

Missy is Betsy Ross. Betsy is known for sewing the American flag. Also, she married a man that was not a Quaker, which caused the split from her and her family as they were not in approval. Sadly, two years after their wedding her husband died in the war for independence. I am guessing I am Betsy Ross because I love to crochet which is crafty like sewing and because I married Ryan who is not Mormon. HOWEVER, we have just reached our two year mark and if this means that I am to lose the man of my dreams to some horrible fatal death like Betsy Ross I will be forced into hating Jenni forever. :)

Moving on...

Ryan is General Ambrose Burnside. He was the first President of the NRA. Ryan fits this role perfectly as he is an avid member of the NRA, pro firearms, and a collector of all things gun worthy, powerful, and loud. He also holds a gun permit which allows him to show off his fancy terrifying looking guns. Go Ryan!

I have found them all besides Chad and Dad. I am told by a little birdie that they are inventors to things that they both love and that Chads is related to baseball. Any ideas?

Whoops I forgot Thera!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thera is Clara Barton. Clara Barton was a nurse, but most importantly a teacher. It says that she was a pioneer American teacher, humanitarian and nurse. I would say that Thera is an amazing teacher as she has taught children most of her life through her Mothers preschool, the church or now as a teacher.

Oh and I forgot that I cannot for the life of me figure out Brad. So Brad, Chad, and Dad. The three that rhyme and seem to be so hard. Go figure...

Just Kidding I do have Brads. Sorry for my crazy posts I have been at this for hours and my brain is fried. Brad is Walter Camp. He was the Father of American football and transformed Rugby into what football is today. This fits Brad completely as he was an all star football athlete in high school and has loved the sport his whole life.

On a happier side note... I found some miniature dog outfit patterns on etsy. I am going to crochet them immediately for Mom's future lap dog...

Wow I am impressed it took me the whole day just to figure out who I was. You people are very good at finding out who these people are. I may be a teacher but surely not a history buff. I need to shape up.
